Education sector has now set focus on setting sanity in the higher levels of learning in a bid to improve its level stands.

This is according to the permanent secretary in the ministry of education prof. Collete Suda who said after a successful monitoring of both KCPE and KCSE national exams, the ministry will hence forth set on robust audit of both public and private universities and other tertiary institution to face out those offering bogus courses that cannot fit in the current society saying the world has become a global village hence relevancy in all aspects is paramount.

She strongly warned institutions colluding with unscrupulous politicians to cheat the unsuspecting general public with certificates that were not acquired regularly saying that the political class has formed the habit of paying for certificates with ill intention of meeting the required academic credentials required by the IEBC for clearance to vie for various political positions without necessarily going to class.

“It must take them as long as the particular degree fulfillment is achieved and certificate duly issued as there will be no short cut in education,” reiterated Suda.

She said that all universities in the country must put strong structures in building quality and standards that will enhance quality in education and academic prowess.

She was presiding over the inauguration and maiden graduation ceremony at Rongo University in Migori County where 986 students graduated with masters, bachelors and diplomas in various fields.

She challenged the newly installed institutions to avoid duplication of academic programmes from established ones but instead focus on unique courses that would enable their grandaunts to fit amicably in the job market.

She cited technical related courses, mining and agriculture as some of the areas which has been under looked yet needs agent exploitation urging the management of Rongo University to bench mark with other institutions that focuses on the development of an all rounded students who will endure the current challenges facing the world as a whole.

The chancellor of Rongo University Prof. Mohammed Yusuf Elmi and the acting vice chancellor Prof. Samwel Gudu however maintained they will ensure relevancy and high standards in their academic delivery.
