An irate rate mob burnt down three houses at Kanyamamba village Kanga area in Rongo sub-County belonging to suspected witches.

The couple, Evans Onyango and wife Sara Awino are suspected kidnappers behind theft of children aged between 1-5 years for medicinal values.

The couple escaped the mob narrowly.

Angry villagers stormed a home at Kanyamamba village after the duo were spotted in their homestead.

Villagers suspected that the family has been kidnapping young children, killing them for their l rituals with latest victims spotted in December last year.

Police had hectic time to disperse angry villagers who had vowed to torched even houses belong to their associates like parents.

A villager claimed that in December last year ,she spotted the suspects with a strange child who warned her never to tell anybody what she had seen and that the same night the man allegedly maimed her and attempted to disappear with her.

“I was rescued before they could kill me,” Eunice Adoyo, a villager said.

Rongo OCPD Jonathan Kisaka who visited the scene with a contingent of police officers pleaded with the public to allow police carry out investigation and desist from taking law into their hands

Kisaka alsor appealed for co-operation to enable security officers dig dipper into the matter and will take necessary action.
