A man in his mid thirties has gone missing after a senior government officer in Rongo fraudulently took money from him promising a job opportunity.

Tolbat Odhiambo who hails from North Kamagambo sub location, Rongo Sub County in Migori County allegedly gave the officer a total of ksh 40,000 after the administrator promised him a post of assistant chief.

Odhiambo learnt later that he had been swindled of his money when the said job was allegedly offered to a different person who is said to be a relative of a member of the selection board.

When he went to seek redress from the suspect, he was denied a hearing and instead the APs manning the office landed on him with kicks and blows where he sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Lwala hospital by Good Samaritan where he was immediately admitted.

The uproar caused a lot of disturbance at office attracting curious on lookers who were amazed and wanted to know what had transpired to the person who was shouting at the top of his voice.

“Am ready to die unless my money is given back, ” shouted Odhiambo who was at the time receiving the wrath of the administration officers.

According to Odhiambo’s wife, different officers in the same office have been taking money from him that forced them to take a loan by Kenya Women Finance Trust bank with a hope of settling upon getting the job.

She went on to say her husband was discharged from the hospital but disappeared shortly afterwards fearing for his life and the consequences by the bank for not servicing the loan. She said nobody knows the whereabouts of her husband.

His elder brother George Odhiambo on his part said they have not been in peace since Odhiambo disappeared two weeks ago and appealed to relevant authorities to come to their aid in searching for their brother and also asked the DCC to come clean on the issue as he is the person charged with the responsibility of ensuring sanity prevails in the sub county.

Efforts to reach the officer proved futile as his phone went unanswered and has not reported to his office since the incident occurred.
