Five people have been arrested by police following the cold blood murder of political and youth activist Shem Shefa in Rongo yesterday night.

They five, according to police were well known to Shefa and come from the same area.

Rongo AP Commandant David Ng’etich said Shefa was drinking with friend at Stage Park pub in Rongo town when he was hacked to death with pangas, which police have also confiscated.

“They were drinking at about 8;45pm when he was called out of the pub, attacked and killed by being slashed on the neck with a panga,” Ng’etich said.

Rongo town and Migori county residents are in shock following Shefa’s death.

He was an official with the Migori County Youth Forum was killed on at Rongo Stage Park bar by people known to him.

“All the five are people known to the deceased and they were drinking together when he was pulled out and attacked. The five are held at Kamagambo Police Station as we are carrying out investigations,” Ng’etich confirmed.

He said the deceased and the five were from the same area and already they have contacted a the assistant chief to help them find the motive of death.
