Police raid four homes along Tanzania border, impound bhang worth Sh1.8m

Migori police led a raid on villages on the border with Tanzania and impounded bhang worth Sh1.8million.

A multi-agency team of detectives accompanied by sniffer dogs raided four homes at Riongo village at the border and impounded bhang with a street value of Sh1.8million.

40 rolls of bhang weighing 1.9 kilos with a street value of Sh57,000 was found in a suspect’s homestead identified as Mbidho, 401 rolls weighing 26.1 kilos worth Sh783,000 was found in Eric Juma’s compound.

Another 166 rolls of bhang weighing 7.5 kilos and worth Sh225,000 was found in GB Madhui compound while 341 rolls of bhang weighing 24.6 kilos and woth Sh738,000 was found in an un-identified house.

“The suspects ran away when they got wind of the raid with most suspects crossing over to Tanzania, we are liasing with elders from both countries to arrest them,” Kimaiyo said.
