Uriri MP Mark Nyamita on Wednesday offered full personal scholarships to two students from the constituency to join Rapogi High School, as bursary applicants hit more than 4,500.

A third beneficiary is set to join Homa Bay High.

Nyamita visited was moved by the story of Denis Onyango a total orphan from Chunge village in North Kanyamkago ward.

Onyango scored 342 marks and was staying with his elderly grandmother Mary Obango who coupled as the sole breadwinner together with his elder brother Oduor Odhiambo.

Their plight reached the legislator who chose to ‘adopt’ the boy as a father and pay full schools fees for him and pocket money for him to join his former Alma mater.

“When I was told the legislator, who never knew us or had visited us had shown his kind gesture I thought it was a dream until today when he came to pick the boy to school,” Obango said.

During the visit Nyamita’s PA Albert Onyango also took under his wings Denis’ elder borther Oduor Odhiambo who had to repeat class eight in 2011 when their father died and managed to score 306 at Nyamasaria Primary.

“I had to move schools twice in secondary because of fees problem, I fannly sat for my exams at Otodo Mixed where I scored a D plain because of hard ship,” Odhiambo said.

Albert said the boy will go back to school at St. Gabriel Miranga Mixed where he will pay his full fees.

“I want to encourage my brother to work hard and ensure he reciprocates the venture the legislator in good results,” Odhiambo said.

Nyamita took the boy in his personal car and drove him to Rapogi where he ensured he was admitted together with his other ‘son’ Maxwel Otieno who scored 359 marks at Nyamilu Primary.

At Kamsaki, Nyamita also extended the same gesture to David Omollo who scored 359 marks and was to join Homa Bay boys.
