Isebania businessman Daniel Mogesi Ngocho is counting loan running into millions after rogue General Service Unit attacked and stole from his premises.

Traders are still reeling in shock as the officers in two un-marked landcruisers invaded his gold processing plant and M.O.1 bar.

Where the gold and the cash was stolen

According to Ngocho, they stole 2.5 kilograms of gold worth Sh11million and stole Sh2million in cash, which was captured on CCTV footage during the March 18 incident which started at 3pm .

“I received a call that my business premises were under attack and through CCTV footage we had captured the officers assaulted workers, bar patrons and stealing openly,” Ngocho said.

Three workers at the processing plant were assaulted, two abducted as bar patrons were beaten and cash stolen from them.

Samuel Gimonge, a worker said he had his arms and leg broken as the officers threatened to shoot him dead.

“They stuffed gold in their pockets and divided money before leaving,” he said.

Advocate Mwita Kerario, representing the businessman said police in Migori were not aware of the raid and said they will ensure the culprits are charged and brought to book.

“What we have in CCTV footage is an act of violent robbers stealing at a private premises, there was no court order for any search warrant availed,” he said.

Migori county police commander Manase Musyoka, said they are investigating the incident and said further communication will be given by county commissioner Boaz Cherutich.

He said complaints against individual officers can be done through Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) and internal complaints desk at the National Police Service Commission.
