Nyatike MP Tom Odege walked into ward politics as chaos marred his weekend development tour in Macalder-Kanyarwanda and Kanyasa wards.

Over 10 people were injured and property destroyed when rival youth groups warring groups clashed.

On Saturday in Macalder during checking on progress of finishing of Rongo University Nyatike campus, youths allied to Macalder-Kanyarwanda MCA George Duro and aspirant Felix Okwanyo clashed.

In Kanyasa ward on Sunday at Bondo Kosiemo Secondary, youths allied to MCA Jackiepol Ongoro and aspirant Jim Clement Ayungo also clashed.

Fierce verbal attack and heckling culminated into physical fight as guests and local leaders who were in attendance had to scamper for safety as the youth pelted stones and rained blows on each other.

A heavy contingent of police officers were however dispatched to the scene which later saw the event continue.

Odege condemned the act terming it at retrogressive and barbaric adding that its likely to derail the ongoing development projects.

In Macalder, he blamed the local investors at the mines for creating division among youths.

“We demand security officers to bring to book whoever shall be found culpable,” he said.

Duro on his part swore never to allow divisive politics emanating from the mines find meddle with their development agenda.

Ayungo said it was sad that leaders chose to heckle rivals when development should have taken a center stage.

The three leaders call for toning down of chaos in the area.
