Mzee Philip Ndong’a is sure of having a peaceful night after Uriri MP Mark Nyamita helped build for him a new house after a fire incident last Saturday.

Ndong’a was at home sleeping in the evening when the accident occurred at 9pm after his grandson left a lamp in the house before leaving to get him supper.

His wife was out for a funeral when the accident happened.

Ndong’a who is dumb and his wife partially blind was overwhelmed with emotion when the team arrived at the homestead to build the house.

“I was at home sleeping when I was waken up as I was burning, all my property we’re destroyed in the inferno,” Ndong’a said through an interpreter.

Nyamita’s team led by constituency manager Jordan Omino visited the home and told Migori News that on Monday they got the report of the accident and availed building materials which included 24 iron sheets all donated by the legislator.

“Our legislator come to help and we are happy that tonight the old man will sleep in a safe house,” Omino said.

The manager said the move resonated well with villagers at Kisaguna in South Kanyamkago ward.

“This region was nicknamed Migingo because elected legislators shunned it before, today our presence has been felt in a positive way,” he said.

Earlier during the day church members allied to Salvation Army prayed at the scene before work started.
