A form three orphan student from Sagero mixed secondary school is nursing a raptured sleen at Ojele memorial hospital after he was beaten by his teachers.

Joseph Okore was beaten by his teachers, Amos and Lazarus after he failed to shave his hair.

The aunt to the student Mary Atieno said that the student sneaked from the school after the teachers warned him not seek medication and also had prevented the sixteen years old boy from accessing the school clinic.

The aunt added that the student arrived at home last week Wednesday and was feeling pain on the lower abdomen and that is when they decided to take him to Ojele hospital where a scan by the doctor found out that he had a raptured spleen that needed operation.

‘’The student came back home after sneaking from school and told us that he had been beaten by two teachers for not shaving his head and was feeling pain in the lower abdomen that is when we rushed him for treatment where the doctors found that he had a raptured spleen that needed urgent
operation, ‘she said.

She added that the school Principal Zachary Ogolla Aludo paid kshs 30,000 as part of the money that was needed for the operation and the whole operation was to take close to kshs 66,000 and it may accumulate more.

A friend of the student Fred Otieno said that the teenage boy was admitted, operated on and the spleen removed and instructed by the doctor not to feed on hard food like ugali, potatoes and only feed on fruits and juice until he fully recovers.

“The teenage boy was admitted at the Ojele memorial hospital, operated on and the crucial organ removed but the doctors instructed him and his guardians that he be fed on soft food and drinks only until he fully
recovers and after that be exempted from doing hard labour like digging, running and manual work.

The school principal Zachary Ogolla Aludo admitted to the press that the boy was assaulted by the teachers and action will be taken against those who are alleged to have committed the crime.

“The student was actually assaulted by the two teachers for not shaving his hair but the school has already taken action and the two teachers have been arrested and are being held at Migori police station waiting to be arraigned in court, “he said.

He termed the incident as unfortunate since the school does not allow corporal punishment of students and the teachers who committed the crime must be brought to book for the boy to get justice.

He dispelled rumours going round some social media sites that the teenage boy is already dead as he insisted that the boy is convulsing at Ojele memorial hospital and he is in a stable condition and will be discharged
soon.
