Empty wards at Migori Referral Hospital

Migori governor Okoth Obado has been challenged by Kuria East MP Marwa Maisori Kitayama to change conditions of health facilities in the county which the legislator termed as pathetic.

Kitayama said Migori should improve health facilities  which he said were “in a sorry state,” especially those in his constituency.

“Most of our health facilities here are in extremely poor condition yet we have a county government under which the health function falls,” he said.

He said most people visit these hospitals find no drugs and equipment especially Kegonga and Ntimaru sub county hospitals.

“They are struggling with lack of facilities, inadequate medicines and unpaid electricity bills amounting to millions,” he said.

“Kegonga and Ntimaru hospitals are facing serious challenges of inadequate drugs, there are no equipment and now I am told the county government does not pay electricity bills,” he said.

At Ntimaru, there are only two maternity beds which are rickety. People are suffering as they have to seek help from private hospitals.

“Let the county government do its job. Governor Obado must serve his people. Let him improve our health facilities,” he said.

County health executive Isca Oluoch and her Chief Officer Dalmas Otieno refused to comment on the criticism when contacted by Migori News.
