Migori County governor Zachary Obado has said members of parliament (MP) from Migori County are against the progress the county was making through their constant frustration meted towards the governor.

Speaking during the state of the county address in Migori town, governor Obado said the elected leaders from the national wing of the government have always not shown the will to attended forums in which county leaders had been invited to address county residents.

Obado said the leaders openly showed anti-devolution traits by not willing to attend forums together with county government officials to the extent of not even sending representatives in their place.

All MPs including the women representative were conspicuously absent at the state of the county address and did not sent representatives of tender their apologies despite them being invited.

Senator Dr. Wilfred Machage however sent a representative.

The obviously enraged governor urged the elected leaders to show importance to forums in which members of the public were to questions their development projects.

“They are always in Nairobi. When do they intend to come to the grass root level and work for the common mwananchi or development tracks be questioned,” Obado decried.

He called on the MPs to emulate other counties where leaders worked mutually to the benefit of the mwananchi

However, the governor said the county government has always been victimized “unfairly” concerning projects, some of which were neglected by the MPs.

“We have always taken a beating for them from innocently ignorant citizens who have not known which roads or projects fall under our jurisdiction or theirs (MPs),” Obado continued.

He urged members of the public to familiarize with the constitution to know which mandates were under the county government and the national government.

During the forum it also emerged that hospital were under stocked with medicine a claim which the governor denounced by saying that he ensured the hospitals were stocked but instead rogue health officials stole and sold them.

For instance a resident from Kehancha in Kuria East said he always saw cartons of medicine being offloaded at the Kehancha dispensary but the hospital would be out of stock in two weeks.

Governor Obado also urged residents of Migori County to engage in positive criticism and detest from always holding onto one “untruth” of him being a Jubilee point man.

“These people see nothing that they can use to unseat me come 2017 and have resolved to propaganda of me being a Jubilee Point man. My brothers, have you ever heard me speak or act Jubilee?” Obado asked.

The Migori county dialogue cum state of the county address was themed “ Promise of devolution consolidating the gains after transition and looking into the future.”
