Nyatike sub-county police have launched a manhunt for a woman who shielded her husband after she defiled their ten years old daughter.

The husband is already being held at Macalder police station after defiling his ten years old daughter at Karungu division.

Ongong’a Obeti who is not the biological father of the girl is said to have cornered the girl while the mother was away and defiled her severally in the house before escaping.

Central Okayo location Chief Geofrey Odhiambo ,said that the child was taken to the hospital for a test and it was established that she was defiled severally.

“We trailed the suspect and finally arrested him before he crossed to Tanzania, but unfortunately the
woman refused to record a statement,” he said.

Odhiambo said the woman who has been married to the suspect for not more than a year elopes with her child back to their home in Nyakach and she has declined to come back and record statement at the police station despite the several calls.

A source who spoke on the condition of anonymity said that the mother of the child claimed that she just wanted something which could separate her from this man and so the defilement has accomplished her mission.

The source said the woman has been advised by her family not to come back and record the statement. However chief Odhiambo said that he is not going to give up on the case until justice prevails.

He said he will trace the mother of the child and arrest her in case she fails to avail herself at the police station saying that the woman cannot be an impediment to the rule of the law.
