Migori nurses put down tools this morning following a court ruling that incriminated three of their workmates for pocketing needles, syringes and drugs valuing to Ksh400.

Agnes Nyarara ,Vivian Chepngeno and Phelencia Achieng were today found guilty for stealing drugs and health equipments. Each were given a cash bill of Ksh 20000 and a bond of 50000.

Furious workmates marched out the court room, through the streets to the County’s Ministry of Health in slogans.

County Committee Member of Health, Elijah Odhiambo addressed the crowd calling for calmness and a structured communication within the organization.

“I will take zero tolerance for thieving of drugs or equipments meant for patients. ” said Elijah.

Migori District Hospital is paralysed as nurses are now on a go-slow until release of their workmates is approved. They threaten not to return to work if environment is not improved.
