The country is ready for BBI and president Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Raila Odinga should speed up its release for refrendum, five legislators have said.

Mwea MP Wachira Kabinga and his Kiambaa counterpart Paul Koinange said the country is ready for referendum before 2022 general election.

“As a country we look forward to the report and Kenyans to adopt it in referendum to push agenda of peace and unity as envisioned by handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga,” Kabinga said.

Kabinga said as the country is moving forward after the handshake, it has been easier for the Jubilee Party to concentrate on development agenda as political heat after 2017 protracted elections was cooled off.

Koinange said to maintain the spirit of handshake which brought unity in the country, the report should be tabled fast before next general elections.

“The spirit of handshake is still strong through the peace and unity we have seen, that mood will usher the report in a referendum,” Koinange said.

They were speaking in Piny Oyie town, Suna West constituency on Saturday.

He was hosted when he was hosted by area legislator Peter Masara and Suna East MP Junet Mohammed.

Other legislators who were with them included Teso North MP Oku Kaunya and Homa Bay town MP Opondo Kaluma.

“Kenya needs the report to be released and referendum called, those who are against the report which is yet to be released will keep opposing it until 2022 general elections when they will find themselves in opposition,” Junet said.
