Multi-billion pipeline project to help Migori residents

Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) in partnership with Migori County government has agreed to invest in a petroleum project worth 10 billion shillings to bring closer to the people the petroleum products and services.

The project which is aimed at constructing a petroleum depot in Migori County is at its early stages with survey to locate the right place where the actual project implementation shall take place.

The multibillion shilling project is also going to create over 200 employment positions and improve business activities within Migori and its neighboring counties.

Addressing the press, the Chairman Technical Committee Board The Kenya Pipeline Company Marwa Maisori said that the discussion between Migori County government and KPC is underway to ensure that the project commence as soon as possible.

“Our engineers are already doing a great job on the ground to locate where the project should be constructed. We are urging the people to closely work with us to enable us see this project in this county,” said Maisori.

He was speaking after a second meeting with Migori county government technical team in an effort to hasten the process of launching the process in due course.

He continued, “The project is going to cover the greater south of Rift Valley and southern parts of Nyanza from Kericho, Kisii, Homabay and finally Migori. People along the way will feel the economic impact of this project.

Deputy governor Mhanga Mwita who presided over the meeting welcome the project and promised a conducive business environment citing that it will to a greater level boost the economy of Migori county.

“The project is going to change the life of people of Migori as well as improving relationship between Migori and neighbouring countries. We emphasize every effort to see that the project see the light of the day, stressed Mahanga.

He said that the project is going to be free from any political interference as been the case with so many projects which end up slating them hindering the crucial projects.

Apparently, the project is at its technical consideration which constitutes economic viability and location considering environmental concerns.
