According to Dr. Odhiambo, the bursary is supposed to help the most vulnerable students from across the county.
“This NGAAF is supposed to take care of this special group, the orphans, those with disabilities and of course the poor of the poorest of the community,” Dr. Odhiambo said.
She said each student will get at least Kshs. 10,000 while others will receive full sponsorship from the fund.
The fund covered 50 students from each sub county with Dr. Odhiambo saying a total of 402 students were issued with the money during this first batch.
“As we sit here today 35 of these students are people with serious disabilities but they are able to learn,” she said.
Total orphans selected were 206 with 161 students being “from very very poor families.”
The girls were also issued with sanitary towels that would be able to serve them for a term.
