Police in Migori town are holding a woman for scalding her middle aged husband over the use of family planning.
George Otieno Odhiambo, the husband is nursing serious burns after his wife of seven years scalded him with hot water at dawn today.
The man is reported to have had a domestic quarrel with his wife known as Mama Safi at night and it is alleged the wife took hot water that was boiling on the jiko and poured on his head living him with serious burns on the head and the forehead.
He said that the wife did want the two to have children and is alleged to have taken family planning pills without his consent so as not to bear him children.
The man added that the woman who he has stayed with for seven years is alleged to be eyeing another man and she said that she is not married to the boda boda rider whom he burnt with hot water.
Brian Omollo,a resident of Dugna kawa junction said that cases of gender based violence have been on the rise and continue to rise everyday as many men and women are injured.
He condemned the actions taken by the wife to burn the young boda boda rider and wants stern actions taken against perpetrators of gender based violence in Migori County as the cases have become so much alarming and on the increase.
The situation attracted a huge crowd that bayed for the woman’s blood as the police responded on time and in time they managed to whisk her away to Migori police station as the man sought medical treatment at Migori Level five hospital for the burns he sustained from the burns.
