Migori teachers want TSC disbanded over September pay row

By MN Reporter

Teachers in Migori county have called for disbandment of Teachers service commission over failure to pay the tutors their September salaries.

Speaking to Migori News in his office, Rongo KNUT branch executive secretary Owuor Gari said by failing to pay them, TSC has lost out on their key mandate.

‘’TSC’ is misleading the government and consuming tax payers money by not paying us our dues,” he said.

Gari said the commission has ruined education sector in the country which has affected pupils and parents.

He insisted teachers in the country deserve better pay.

“Government should come out openly and say it is bankrupt instead of maneuvering over the legality of the suspended teachers strike,” he fumed.

The unionist said matters of discipline should be handled procedurally according to the stated rules rather than handling everybody enmasse.

He said KNUT will remain vocal on matters that will uphold education standards in the country as it is the only key to open brighter future to our youths.

Homa bay KUPPET branch executive secretary Stephen Yogo said their union will not tire until what they were promised is availed to them.

“The last court ruling instructed that there was not to be victimisation, TSC has ignored the orders and is in office illegally,” he said.
