Migori stadium walls weaken by waste water from mortuary, may crumble

Parameter wall at Migori Stadium that separates it from the County Referral Hospital may soon collapse if a proper water drainage system will not be constructed.

Over 200 meters of the wall risk collapse after being weaken by waste water from the morgue not channeled to the septic tank.

“The situation has been made worse by heavy rain currenty pounding the the region,” Migori County Municipal Member Joseph Nyambori said.

He said the Public Health Department at Referral Hospital need to move fast and construct modern septic tank to accommodate wastewater from the hospital.

“We have a dire situation, we need the department to propose a budget that will accommodate high-end septic tank construction and proper drainage of rainwater,” he said.

Health chief officer Dalmas Oyugi agreed that the hospital needed an immediate new septic tank to accommodate waste water.

“A supplementary budget had been forwarded to the county assembly which will ensure the construction of the septic tank,” he said..

He said County Municipal Management at the county stadium is working with the health department to ensure the wall separating them is not ruined by water.
