Rotary Club of Suna-Migori has called on leaders from Nyanza area to preach peace to enable life to normalize in the region.

Speaking in Migori town, club President William Bobo said it was unfortunate that while the rest of the country was moving on form the just concluded polls, businesses were yet to start being fully operational because of the tension being witnessed in the region.

“It’s is unfortunate that even the owners of small-scale traders are still unable to open their businesses. This means that they are being denied of their daily livelihood”, he said.

On his part, club President Nominee Charles Agimba regretted that some of the youths demonstrating ended up destroying stalls used by women traders within the town, women who had nothing to do with the elections.

“I am appealing to those demonstrating to maintain peace and desist from destruction of properties. These stalls cost these women a lot of money and it is wrong to destroy them,” he said.

Speaking at the same function, clubs Publicity Director Nick Oluoch said the club will be seeking to work with other agencies to promote peace in the county adding that there could be no development without peace.

“As a club, our main aim is improving the lives of humanity and this cannot happen when there is no peace,” he said.
