Migori county govt is doing fine- Mahanga

By Clinton Oballa

Migori county deputy governor Mwita Mahanga has assured the county
locals of more development activities before the general election.

Speaking during the Jamuhuri Day holiday celebrations at Awendo Sub
County, Mahanga said it is through their good work that has made
Migori County be top amongst the other counties in development.

“Our first award we won in the first year in office and we were ranked fourth best, we later led in Agriculture department country wide and currently we are the top with three beautiful awards”. He said.

Migori County was ranked amongst the best performing counties
garnering three awards just as their counterpart Machakos County.
However Mahanga called on the contractors to speed their work as they are a key pillar in the development of the county.

He said some of the contractors risks being blacklisted from doing the county contractors following their delay in the completion of their contracts.

“As much as we want to be the best, our contractors must also help us
be the best as most of the activities are being done by them, you can’t do a 1 year contract for 2 years and you expect us to be happy with you”. He said.

Mahanga also applauded the efforts done by the county government in
ensuring devolution is successful just after 2 years in office.

With the currently observed Elninho rains, he called on the national
government to release funds that were allocated for counties to help
curb such disaster.

“Most of the counties have achieved more than what the national
government has done for the last 52 years and this is clear to every
Kenyan, currently they have not even provided the Elninho funds yet
they have heard of the disaster”. He added.

Most of the victims of the Elninho rains have so far received
donations from organisations and volunteers who sympathise with them.

County first lady Hellen Obado over the weekend donated goods and
materials worth Sh.500, 000 to help sustain the victims at Nyora and
Kabuto camps in North Kadem Ward, Nyatike Sub County
