The motion to discuss the constitution of People’s Assembly is set to be brought to Migori Assembly tomorrow after the same failed to be affected last week.

The debate, according to Migori Women Representative and County Orange Democratic Movement Patron Dr. Pamela Odhiambo, was because of a “delay.”

“This is a motion that other counties have worked on it and passed on it but in Migori I think there was a bit of delay but am not sure what really happened,” Dr. Pamela said.

Speaking at Migori County ODM offices, Dr. Pamela said that preliminary investigations had revealed that the County assembly had indeed not received the motion as at Friday last week.

Other counties affiliated to NASA including Homa-Bay, Siaya and Kisumu last week discussed and passed the motion allowing the formation of People’s Assembly.

The Women Representative however expressed optimism that the motion was going to be discussed and passed tomorrow.

“Tomorrow we are geared, with their (MCA’s) authority, that they will discuss this bill and they will pass it then we will move forward together with the rest of Kenya,” Dr. Pamela said.

She said other county leaders had been invited to the County Assembly to witness the historic event “in the quest for free, fair and credible election.”

Dr. Pamela said that despite the hitch, Migori is in solidarity with NASA and the leaders were working to see to it that the bill is passed.

Deputy Leader of Majority Esther Onana assured the public that the Migori assembly was going to pass the bill unanimously.

“We are going to sit down as the house and pass the bill that is before us,” Onana said.

Onana acknowledged that they were late but urged the public not to view the MCA’s as being defiant to NASA.

The leaders maintained that they do not recognize the leadership of Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto.

“No one can go to a race alone and then later claim to be a winner,” County ODM Youth Leader Eric Opany said.

They were flanked by ODM chair Philip Makabong’o and Secretary General Josi Olala among other leaders drawn from the eight sub-counties.
