Awendo ODM Secretary General George Odede has raised alarm that lack of IDs is slowing down voter registration.

He appealed to the department of Registration and immigration of persons to escalate the process of National Identification cards processing to enable the public to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise.

“Lower voter registration turn out in Migori is due to delay in ID processing by the concerned department,” he said.

He added: “Majority of people applied for ID long enough but they are yet to receive them and so they cannot participate in the ongoing voter registration.”

The secretary was speaking to Migori News over the phone today.
