A faulty transformer has plunged residents of Ngisiru center, Kuria West into a six month blackout.

The transformer was struck by lightning and Kenya Power has ignored attempts and pleas by locals and leaders to have it repaired.

Ngisiru Mixed Secondary School principal Otieno Oloo said the school has been forced to work without electricity for the period of time.

He said he has written several letter to Kenya Power, which have been ignored.

“Apart from the school other institutions affected included a primary school, health center and local village polytechnic,” he said.

Area Tagare MCA Nicholas Rioba said he has also tried to make follow ups which failed and called on Kuria West legislator Mathias Robi to ensure the area is back to national grid.

Robi said he will ensure the transformer is replaced.
