Bukira gold mines in Kuria West have lost a miner with his two colleagues escaping narrowing following gas poisoning.
The miners had just pumped water from the mines using a diesel powered pump.
The accident occurred when the three entered the mine soon afterwards and died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning.
Migori county police commander Joseph Nthenge said the miner died on the spot after being pulled from the mines while his two colleagues survived after first aid.
The body has been taken to Migori County Referral hospital mortuary.
