Awendo MP Jared Kopiyo has called on the security agents to ensure they beef up security which has been a hitch in the area for a period of time now.

Kopiyo however security issues must be at all times discussed saying that some criminals outside the sub-county have taken the advantage of the peaceful environment which the Awendo people have been enjoying.

Speaking to press in Awendo Kopiyo asked the security agencies to ensure police officers who have overstayed in the region are transferred saying most of them are used to the villagers hence and some criminals hence can plan for such attacks.

He alluded that there is need to promote peace especially in this electioneering period urging the youths not to be used by other politicians to cause chaos in political gatherings and during the nomination periods.

He at the same time said that that his confidence that the ODM nominations will be free and fair and urged the aspirants to ensure and promise the residence they conduct peaceful campaigns.

This comes ahead amid fears of insecurity with ongoing campaigns for ODM party primaries after a body of a beheaded man was founded earlier this month.

The headless body chopped with a panga was found inside a sugarcane plantation in East Sakwa ward only 300 meters from Awendo town.

The region has been notorious for bloody campaigns between rival politicians with most youths attacking each other using pangas and other crude weapons.
