Kadika primary school risk being closed over lack of toilets which has posed a health risk to pupils and neighbours.

The school’s administration may be forced to send students at home if they shall fail to honor the letter written to the institution by the department of public health.

“The school has also been engaging pupils in cleaning the latrine with the open sewer without gloves making the pupils susceptible to health risk,” Ombogo said

The letter dated June 2, by Migori public health department ordered the school to close down a latrine that has been disposing raw sewage in open.

County Deputy Public Health Officer Kennedy Ochieng Ombogo told Migori News the open raw sewage is a health hazard to the neighboring families that have complained of waste trickling down to their compounds.

“We have given them a two weeks’ notice after which we will take the school administration to court to compel them to down the institution,” Ombogo said.

The letter also wants Kadika Primary to bring down a new latrine that has been constructed closer to households ignoring advice issued by ministry of health.
