Two Migori leaders have come out through Facebook posts to condemn the shooting of the Ulanda Girls Secondary School pupil on Friday.

“I condemn in the strongest terms the shooting of a secondary student today by Migori prison warders in Migori. These were innocent students going about their business of school games. This particular officer should be reprimanded with immediate effect.” Ghati posted.

“The killing of a high school student(we have since established she’s not dead) in Migori is despicable and inexcusable.

Though it appears as an accident, the very fact that inmates were allowed out and near a huge social gathering where successful escape appeared probable to them raises so many questions on the whole situation.

The little we expect is that thorough investigations be done and those found to have abdicated their roles to face the full force of the law.

We continue to urge law enforcement agencies particularly in Nyanza to temper their use of lethal force with reason and moderation.
