Businessman Bruno Liende has insisted he is still in the race to try and unseat Suna East MP Junet Mohamed in the forthcoming elections despite rumours that he has stepped down.

Taking to his Facebook profile, Liende confirmed that he has been missing in action on the ground for some time and his supporters have raised concern, while his opponents have taken the matter to discredit his bid.

“My attention has been drawn to unfounded romours and innuendos doing round (on) social media that I have budged out of the Suna East Parliamentary race,” he said.

He said he was still in the race to “ensure the people of Suna East get quality representation.”

“Let me seize this opportunity to categorically and unequivocally state that I am in the race for Suna East Parliamentary seat, ignore the sentiments peddled by my opponents,” he said.

He said his silence has been caused by recent Ministry of Health protocols and guidelines geared towards curbing the spread of Covid-19.

“I decisively urge my supporters and well wishers to ignore the rumours being spread and peddled, expect my full time presence once the pandemic containment measures are lifted,” he said.

Junet, a close ally to ODM leader Raila Odinga is out to defend his seat for a third term and is enjoying popular support among the electorates.
