Migori senator Ochillo Ayacko has vowed that he will not relent on his oversight role on governor Okoth Obado in exchange for his support for governor race in 2022 general elections.

Speaking during the funeral of George Odede, former Awendo ODM chairman in Rinya village, Ayacko said Obado “was like a wild buffalo which MCAs has left me alone to milk.”

Ayacko, Without mentioning names said several people have approached him in with 2022 talk to tone down on oversight of the county for the governor’s support.

Ayacko is among a throng of aspirants who want to replace the governor after his term ends.

“Doing the work of oversight is what voters elected us to do, I won’t relax this role as told by others in Migori for the sake of 2022, I find that hard,” he said.

He said Obado was like a wild buffalo, which the MCAs have left him alone to do the milking.

“MCAs are afraid of governor, they have left me alone to milk a wild buffalo which is kicking me,” Ayacko said.

He said the senate and assemblies should work hand-in-hand in checking on devolution and work of governors, which is the sole mandate of voters.

Migori ODM chairman Philip Makabongo said the assembly was an embarrassment to voters as it has been marred by corruption and officials openly supporting the same people they should oversight.

“We have Migori MCAs on notice that the same voters who took them to office will gauge them in the ballot and party primaries in next elections,” Makabong’o said.
