Nominated MP and the first Migori Woman Representative Hon. Dennitah Ghati has said she will be in the ballot for a county seat in 2022 general elections.

Ghati, who represents People With Disability (PwD) in the parliament courtesy of ODM party, said she will be in the ballot for a county slot insisting her dream had no reverse gear.

She was speaking with Migori News in a special interview on July 10.

“I have my heart and mind set on being on the ballot for a county seat in 2022 general election in Migori. I will be right in the middle of politics in the county and this has no reverse gear,” Ghati said.

Ghati said currently she is creating a campaign chest and is re-energising her camp team across the 40 wards.

“I have been monitoring the county politics, and we are working in line with what the Building Bridges Initiative will bring forth,” she said.

The BBI may scrap off the Woman Representative seat, add two senators of different gender or have a governor and his deputy in a ballot on different genders.

In case the WR seat is scrapped off, the current holder Dr. Pamela Odhiambo will be forced to seek another seat which is most likely the governor slot.

This will also bring into sharp focus most aspirants for the seat to vie for governor, deputy governor or senate seats.

The minority Kuria community, which also seeks the BBI mandate for own county, will have most 30 per cent of county votes decided by the outcome.

“I have held several meetings with my kitchen cabinet and team on the ground, we have all options open for a county from Woman Representative, senator or governor ticket,” she said.

Ghati said she will work closely with the ODM party leader Raila Odinga to offer her direction.
