Government gives Sh63m for Siruti TTI, Kopiyo to donate Sh10m from CDF Kitty

Siruti Technical training Institute will be fully operational early next year, Higher Education Principal Secretary, Prof Colletta Suda has said.

Prof Suda who represented Cabinet Secretary for Education Science and Technology Fred Matiangi during the ground breaking ceremony, Prof Suda confirmed that the national government has allocated Ksh.63million being the first dispatch for the construction of the institute.

The Principle Secretary asked thaw community to stop viewing technical institutions as places for those who did not perform well in national examinations but as institutions through which many citizens have acquired competency in technical line which has enabled them to contribute immensely to the national development.

“Technical Institutions is not for failure but for Kenyans who have decided to pursue technical lines but has produced technocrats and successful carriers in various fields,” Prof Suda added.

She appealed to Kenyans who have identified talents 0f their children to register them in Technical institutions to pursue areas of interests up to degree level.

Prof Suda hailed technocrats from the country whose products matched international standards and compete favorably in outside world markets, putting the country in the map of few recognized nations with quality and durable products that has attracted international attention.

She at the same time said the government was in the process of reviewing curriculum that will benefit al scholars based on nurturing talents, academics and technology that will enable the country to compete other developing countries as the curriculum will be broad based to benefit each individuals.

Awendo Member of Parliament Jared Kopiyo however donated sh.10million from CDF towards equipping the facility with relevant training equipments.

The Migori County Governor Okoth Obado announced that the County government will consider sponsoring vulnerable children to achieve their training goals.

Siruti Technical Institute will use Mawego Institute as a mentoring Institution and the 5 Technical Institutes that include Siala, Kakrao, Kiandege and Riat in Kokuro.
