God Jope boda operators demo against area MCA, county government over bad roads

By MN Reporter

Over 50 angry boda boda operators from God Jope ward, Suna East constituency went on a rampage last Friday over poor condition of rods in the area.

Carrying twigs and placards the operators moved from God Jope center to Migori town to seek redress over the poor condition of roads despite paying taxes to the county government.

They said roads through Boma Lab, Ngege, Nyaduong, Oyuma and Alara all inaccessible.
Maurice Obonyo, an operator said they are paying taxes to the county government yet they are not getting services which are commensurate to their taxes.

Barack Okinyi, another operator said they will not pay taxes to county government until the roads are repaired.

“We will take upon ourselves to chase away tax collectors until we get the roads repaired,” Okinyi said.

They accused area MCA Abwao Ochieng’ for the poor condition of roads and vowed to stop the collection of taxes from the operators operating on the inaccessible road until they upgraded the bad roads or else they will evade tax forcefully.

Efforts to reach Abwao by Migori News remained futile as he could neither pick calls nor answer massage.
