Fatuma fires manager on social media, Mary Owino fires back: ‘her sister earned the salary’

By MN Reporter

The office of Migori Woman Representative Fatuma Mohammed has been embroiled into wrangles that has spilt into social media.

Mohammed is said to have fired her manager Mary Owino in what was said to have been political reasons.

Political circles said Owino was offered a lift by Suna West MP Peter Masara to her home which irked the county legislator.

Mohammed is said to have been irked by the move which she felt antagonised governor Ochillo Ayacko, her confidant.

Currently Masara and Ayacko are at political crossroads.

To quell the rumours, a letter dated March 28, 2024 started circulating on social media meant to show that Mary Auma Onyango was fired over gross misconduct.

“I would like to state that I’m not MARY AUMA ONYANGO- An integral member of staff in the said office and I don’t hold such a post in that office. I’m serving as the “Manager” in the office of the woman representative -Migori County,” Owino posted on social media.

Owino said she came across the letter on social media which places Mohammed integrity and status in a quagmire.

“I have served the office with integrity and humility as the “Manager” despite the Woman representative’s sister earning the salary as the Manager,” she added.

She said she was fired for Mohammed to create more space for her relatives.

“I’ve continuously run the office without resources. The woman representative has consolidated all resources to her Nairobi Office. We haven’t had an operation money nor the petty cash to even purchase little things like tissue paper,” Owino fired.

She said she will announce her move later.
