There was drama at a popular lunch joint frequented by Migori county government workers and operatives after a senior big wig lost Sh700,000 in a parked car.

The Monday December 16 incident left other customers at Nyar Kisumo Hotel, next to county headquarters, in shock as the smartly dressed man in a blue suit started wailing uncontrollably after a nice meal of ugali and fish.

The man had driven from Migori county headquarters where he is believed to have gotten the haul.

“We were eating out, the man finished his meal and went outside after paying only to come back wailing that his money was stolen after his vehicle was broken into,” a witness told Migori News.

The vehicle was parked next to a fence, and nobody knew the amount was inside and the ‘thief’ capitalized on light rains to make the breakthrough.

It seems the man was given the amount after cutting deals at the county headquarters and decided to eat before either going to the bank or his hideout.

“The only people who gave him the money who knew he had money in the car, it was the same people who decided take it away: there is no honour among thieves,” the witness said.

As the man was wailing, his colleagues from the county tried to console him making frantic calls on his friends who knew about the haul to locate the thief.
