Controversy surrounds the selection process of the secretary to the public service board even as he was vetted before his name is submitted to the county assembly.

A member of County Assembly privy to the selection process has said that the selection process was marred with dishonesty and those who were best suited to hold the position were short changed.

Speaking to the press after the vetting process, the member of county assembly said the individual whose name was submitted for vetting did not hold the best needed qualifications for the job.

“What you people should be aware of is that the individual who has just been vetted was fourth among the names that were forwarded for consideration and subsequent vetting,” the MCA said.

The MCA said that another individual with far much better qualifications had been selected but things took a sudden change.

The county law maker said that forces from individual high in the county management were influencing the process to favour a certain part on the county.

“It is evident that politics is in play, some senior officials are influencing the process in favour of Rongo sub-county,” the law maker said.

The MCA who vowed to expose the dealings behind the forwarding of the name of one individual for vetting said the county government was setting a bad precedent.

“If this is the person who is supposed to direct and advise the public service board towards the right direction yet his appointment if already questionable, where do you think the county government is heading to?,” the MCA asked.

The concerned MCA also said the vetting board had failed to follow due process prior to the vetting process saying the process ought to have been publicised.

“Before vetting in done, the process should be put in the national dailies early enough for the members of the public to know and give any input that may aid in the vetting,” the MCA said.

Martin Shikuku Arondo, the nominee however is convinced he did his best and should therefore be tabled before the Assembly for approval.
He said he would ensure a good employee relationship minimizing any unrest that may arise.

“I am well versed with the various legal documents such as Employment act and labour relations act and I will borrow all the theory i have learnt and put them into practise,” Arondo said.

He added, “I understand some newly employed servants under the county government earn far much less than their colleagues who were inherited from the defunct local authority despite having hire education qualifications than them, I will strive to ensure there is parity in pay as I strive to explain to them to understand,” Arondo said.

Arondo who currently serves as a teacher under TSC said he was not quitting teaching but transferring service from one government body to another but still serving the public.
