Speaking exclusively to Migori News over the phone, Owino said already the face masks have been procured through the Awendo NG-CDF kitty.

“We are mapping out their distributions through chiefs and their assistants bearing in mind the prcess should not encourage mass gathering,” Owino said.

He said the distribution will also go in line with issuing of hand sanitizers to help fight the virus.

According to the legislator, business people in shops, markets, boda boda operators and hotels who frequently come in contact with people will be given first priority.

“I want to personally thank all leaders and residents of Awendo constituency who have helped in one way or another in fighting coronavirus by either donation water points or soaps, this clearly shows that fighting the virus is above politics,” Owino said.

He said already mapping of vulnerable people whose business have been affected by coronavirus for food distribution is underway.

“We have business people in Awendo town, Sony Sugar company, Ranen and Sare centers, and other places who will benefit from the food donation,” he said.

The legislator urged residents to continue working in their shambas and other businesses  to help end hunger in the area.
