A family in Nyangubo village of Suna West sub-county in Migori county is mourning the death of their son after he was stung by bees.

The one year old was in the company of his two siblings when they were attacked by bees at their home in the eve of yesterday.

According to the child’s mother Vera Awuor, his son succumbed to bee stings this morning after the attack yesterday.

“His body started swelling before he later developed difficulty in breathing at 3 AM in the morning when he died,” Awuor said amid tears.

She said her two surviving children were still writhing in pain from the swellings all over their body.

Confirming the incident, area Assistant Chief Charles Ouma said the bees were from a beehive that had fallen at a farm near the home.

Ouma urged bee farmers to ensure they hang hives far from people’s homes to avoid such calamities.
