By MN Reporter

Migori governor Ochillo Ayacko has launched a blood bank which will cut long distance to be travelled by patients seeking transfusion.

“We have made great progress as from now we will not seek blood transfusion services from outside Migori, this bank will not only help public hospitals but also private ones,” Ayacko said.

He said currently the bank has 800 pints of blood.

Boniface Onyango the County Laboratory Coordinator in side interview to the press said Migori county needs 900 pints of blood monthly but is always able to get an average of 600 pints.

“All the blood we have at the bank is given voluntarily and mostly from schools and learning institutions, we have the capacity to store more pints of blood,” Onyango said,

He said the center has enough freezers and machines to separate blood component like plasma and pellets.
