Awendo student denied Knec results because of old age

A last year’s KCSE candidate from a school in Migori County has not received her results to date.

The candidate Beatrice Akinyi,23,sat for her exams at Rabuor Koglo mixed secondary school in Awendo sub county and was expecting to score grade C and above.

It is believed that the candidate is being penalized over her age as Knec expected all form 4 candidate to sit exams at the age of 18 years

She doesn’t understand why the national examination council is penalizing her of sh.5,900 of which her parents are unable to raise.

Economic status of her parents is beyond reasonable doubt and Akinyi needs to have her results to enable her pursue training.

Her Head teacher Pius Olang’o Oyugi confirmed that even her fees payment was difficult due to poverty index level in that particular family.

Akinyi sat for her KCSE at 23 years as she was unable to attend to all lessons as her parents struggled to raise little money for her education.

She was forced to repeat form three 3 times in order to cope up with other students who were having their lessons uninterrupted.

Had she attended her lessons uninterrupted she would have performed well and pursue a competitive course of her choice.

She has appealed for assistance from the government and well wishers to enable her realize her dream of becoming a reliable surgeon in few years to come.

The best candidate at Rabuor Kogello obtained a grade of B- and hopefully,Akinyi would have been the best of the 32 candidates who sat for their exams from that particular school.

Her parents expressed confidence in her saying they have hope in her upon completing her formal education and appealed for support from well wishers to enable her pursue training uninterrupted.

Her classmates interviewed confirmed Akinyi is a bright girls and need to be considered for financial assistance towards her training as she had demonstrated to be a responsible citizen since the time she joined the school in form one and fees payment for her was a problem as parent struggled to raise what they could to support her education
