Awendo MP Jared Kopiyo has thrown his wait behind the re-election bid of Migori governor Okoth Obado.
Kopiyo called on residents to re-elect Obado while addressing retired councilors in Migori town on Friday.
Obado and senator aspirant Solomon Hodo were chief guest at the funds drive which raised Sh560,000 to help the councilors to start a matatu business.
“I have walked across Migori county and I can comfortably say that Obado stands a better chance to be relected,” Kopiyo said.
Already former cabinet minister Ochillo Ayacko, Anne Omodho Anyanga and six other aspirants has declared interest to unseat Obado next year.
Analyst say Kopiyo move is to try and counter other governor aspirants popularity in Awendo especially Ayacko.
I feeel like laughing off the motive of the fund drive. I mean how can former councillors organize for a fund drive to buy a matatu after working for all those years. This money would have been used to pay school fees for students from poor families. These people have worked all failed to save for their world desires. Ridiculous!
Now, Obado stands and chance and Kopiyo supporting him is his constitutional right and not a move to counter the ‘growing support for gubernatorial aspirants ‘. Let’s do the right reporting and not such like. Ochillo has no support in Awendo constituency that would be termed as growing. I’m from Awendo myself.
