A boda boda rider was on Thursday May 20 killed on the spot in Awendo town grisly accident.

The rider, yet to be identified had picked a tomato seller from Nyarago area and they were headed towards Awendo market when the accident occurred.

Witness said a Matatu had dropped a passenger at Sugarland Hotel stage and was trying to join back the busy Kisii-Migori highway when the accident occurred.

“The Matatu swerved to avoid a pothole and the rider was knocked toward an oncoming sugarcane hauling tractor,” Moses ‘Sudi Boy’ Okombo, a rider said.

James Owiro, Awendo chairman of boda boda riders said the woman survived wit injuries after jumping from the moving motorbike while the rider was not so lucky.

“He died on the spot, we picked his identification card and are trying to locate his family. We demand for justice as rider,” he said.

The body has been taken to Rapcom mortuary while the woman was rushed to Rapcom Hospital.
