Nyatike constituency will get 10 transformers in two months by the Rural Electrification Authority to boost the number of people connected to the national grid.

Thim Lich Oinga tourist site will get a transformer stationed at Thim Lich Primary to help boost tourism, area MP Edick Anyanga said last Friday.

Anyanga had led five MPs on Energy & ICT committee and REA CEO Ng’ang’a Munyu in the tour.

“National government will ensure all schools in Migori county are connected to electricity. Migori has over 700 schools and slightly over ten per cent are not connected to electricity,” Anyanga said.

The legislator also said the process will also ensure faulty transformers around schools are replaced.

Munyu said REA used 850million in the first phase of electrification in rural areas where they added 5,500 transformers in two years to the existing 40,000 nationwide.

Legislators who attended the tour were Kigumo MP Jamleck Kamau who is committee chair, Rachuonyo’s James Rege, Mwingi North’s John Munuve and Shukran Gure (Women Rep Garissa County MP).
