Migori Governor Okoth Obado has called the ODM legislators to avoid unnecessary politics if they are keen to stem up the war on corruption.

Obado who speaking on Sunday at a fund raiser in Rongo Constituency said the war on corruption cannot be fought by empty rhetoric and constant mud sliding.

He challenged the legislators to clean up the ‘mess’ in their constituencies before talking about the county governments.

“Most of those calling me corrupt cannot account for the moneys in their jurisdictions yet they are the first to point accusing fingers. Let them provide evidence because whenever a new building crops up in Migori County  it is always perceived to be mine.” Obado said.

Obado was reacting following accusations by ODM chairman John Mbadi that Nyanza governors were grossly involved in the plunder of public funds.

Mbadi took a swipe on Obado for his affiliation with Deputy President William Ruto whom he accused to be behing a myriad of corrupt schemes in the government.

“You cannot pupport to be clean when your associates are the most corrupt individuals in the country. evil always attract evil.” Mbadi said.

But in a rejoinder, Obado told off those linking his association with Ruto over corruption to furnish the EACC with the information.

“If anyone has concrete evidence linking me to theft of public funds then let him produce it to EACC. I know most of your corrupt schemes and I can single out everyone of you with evidence based on your past track records.” Obado said.

Present at function were Senators James Orengo(Siaya), Ochilo Ayacko(Migori), ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, John Mbadi(Suba South), Paul Abuor(Rongo) Walter Owino(Awendo),Godfrey Otsotsi (nominated) and Peter Masara(Suna West).
