Michael ‘Aguero’ Odhiambo, 36, a popular boda boda rider from Wuoth Ogik center in Migori town was murdered as he tried to catch a thief at night, police has said.

Odhiambo was sleeping at his house when he heard a commotion by three of his colleagues at Wuoth Ogik center identified as Stephen Ochieng, Daniel Osimbo and Victor Gwendo.

The three had found two suspected thieves carrying a black back pack bag and insisted to know what they were doing in the area prone with insecurity.

The two suspects ran off after the group started checking the content of their bag where they found a hummer, a pliers and a motor cycle number plate KMEM 598S.

Migori police boss Joseph Nthenge said the two ran into different directions and the four boda boda riders split into two and gave a chase.

“Odhiambo was about to catch the suspect who removed a knife and stabbed him on the chest before fleeing,” Nthenge said.

His body  is at Migori County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
