A sad mood has engulfed Rabuor residents in Kwa ward, Suna East constituency after a 70 year old granny drowned while crossing River Nyatira.

Anjelina Ogol was from Ogwedhi market at night she drowned while crossing a wooden bridge.

Rabuor Central location senior chief Philip Kisiagro said the granny slipped as she was crossing the river that had broken its banks following the heavy down pour.

“Her body was recovered more than a kilometer away from the point she drowned,” he said.

The area chief said the wooden bridge was also swept away by the water, forcing a good number of people to be stranded.

He said lack of a proper bridge across river Nyatira has posed a lot of challenges to the locals who have occasionally been denied access to other areas during rainy season.

He challenged the Suna East CDF kitty and Migori county government to move with speed and build a bridge to avert more accidents.
