Over 15,000 teenagers in Migori county are imoregnanted annually, leading to high rise of school drop-out rates.

Gregory Ganda, Migori County Director Medical Services while addressing a family planning forum in town said it was alarming that girls were becoming young mothers.

‘’it’s actually very sad that after every year there are up to 15,000 teenage girls who drop out of school because of early pregnancy in this County. This has prompted measures from health partners promote school based sensitization forums on dangers of early pregnancy,’’ Ganda said.

Eunice Okoth Family Planning Champion asked men to support women in their quest to adopt effective family planning methods. She also urged women to take the issue of family planning seriously.

“Women should be on the front line to adopt family planning. We also urge men to support their women to take up this program so that we all make a change in this county,’’ she said

Migori county secretary Christopher Rosana said that the county government has allocated funds to the ministry of health to support family planning programs.
