The decision by senator Ochillo Ayacko to meet with MCAs last week has sparked off debate on impeachment of governor Okoth Obado amid a divided assembly.

Before the meeting Obado’s team successfully lobbied most Luo MCAs to skip, with only those from Kuria attending.

“I was impressed by turnout from Kuria, but those from Luo skipped it. What I have gathered is that they were being threatened and discouraged from interacting with me,” Ayacko said.

The threats according to Ayacko were absence of token and development in their wards from the executive as “the governor has runway in terms of negativity with fiscal indiscipline in all departments, and county assembly has abdicated its mandate.”

He said he  “will do what is within my power and means to ensure those,” who are behind what he termed as runaway corruption  in Migori are arrested.

But on Saturday, Obado said Migori was leading in two things compared to other counties: development and propaganda by blind to his work.

“Ata Obado akifanya kazi mzuri namna gani hakuna mtu anaangalia, wakwende huki ati Obado ameiba 2.5 billion, hio ni wazimu,” he said.
