Young children rush to a water kiosk happily when the Kuria West CDF Land Rover pulls at Nyanchabo church in Masaba Ward.

The happy children smile at the camera as they draw clean water from a Sh2.8million water project initiated by Kuria West CDF kitty under the area MP and patron Hon. Mathias Robi.

The Nyanchabo Water project has completely eliminated high cases of water borne diseases like cholera and typhoid from the area, relieved the community which had to walk long distance in search of water.

Hon. Robi said the project was among his campaign pledge during the last polls.

“During the campaigns I promised the community a borehole when elected and we are happy we have it out and rolling by now,” Robi told Migori News.

He launched the project at Nyanchabo center on October 26 last year.

Water is pumped from Nyanchabo Primary School borehole to an erected water tank which distributes the precious commodity to three centers at the church, school and Nyanchabo center.

Mary Mwita and her colleague Jane Nchagwa manage a water center.

“We used to walk long distance to get water from rivers and springs which were not clean, the project has cut the distance to fetch the precious commodity and to doctor’s waiting room,” Mwita said.

George Nyamohanga, a resident said they will commission the kitty to also help pipe the water to a local
dispensary to aid in service delivery and improve hygiene.
